Quaker Ridge Golf Club

The club still occupies the core. Houses on Griffen, Weaver, and the streets against the course sit on the leftover Quaker Ridge land that was not kept for the eighteen holes. Metropolitan Golf Links bought 125 acres in 1915. Quaker Ridge Golf Club bought the same ground in 1916 for $176,000 and hired A. W. Tillinghast. The course opened in 1918.

Fish & Marvin reported the sale in the Inquirer. Bradford Rhodes's Quaker Ridge Estates was the seller of record. A clapboard house served as the first clubhouse; the Tudor house opened in 1923. Extra land at the north corner in 1925 brought Tillinghast back. The club is still there. The neighborhood around it is what got the leftover acres.
