Later Irvington streets

This Irvington street is a village lot from the Dearman grid (Main, Broadway, the lettered streets that now carry local names) or a later cut that is not one of the named parks. The railroad arrived in 1847. Franklin C. Field bought the Dearman farm in 1849 to start a village. Estate land above Broadway came down later.

Side streets off Main now carry names from local families: Astor, Buckhout, Cottenet, Dutcher, Ecker, Ferris, Grinnell. Half Moon apartments (1952) took river land south of Main. East Irvington filled after 1878.
