Hampshire / Winged Foot / Grand Park

In the 1870s a large development called Grand Park was planned through this edge of Mamaroneck and Scarsdale. Most of that scheme became Winged Foot Golf Club. Mamaroneck renamed its stretch Fenimore Road; Scarsdale kept Grand Park Avenue. Houses on Weaver, Griffen, Fenimore, and the town streets against the courses sit on the leftover Grand Park / club land.

Saxon Woods Park and the club belt absorbed the acreage that never became house lots. The town roll streets — Weaver, Murray, Rockland, Edgewood Avenue, Garden, Brookside — are the residential remainder of that inland estate-and-club country.
