Tarrytown homes whose assessments rose more than their street's
Comparing one home's assessment with the town average does not say much, because streets differ in value for reasons that have nothing to do with how the assessor treated your parcel. Compare your home with the other homes on your street.
Homes on the same street are usually similar in age, lot size, and market, so their assessments usually move together. When parcels a few doors down barely changed and one jumped, it is fair to ask the assessor why.
The table shows the 27 Tarrytown parcels that rose the most compared with their street, out of 27 that qualify. Gaps are measured against 95 streets with at least 5 comparable parcels each. A parcel qualifies if it rose at least 10 percentage points more than its street's median, but less than 100.
Another 2 Tarrytown parcels rose more than 100 points above their street. A change that large usually means the house was rebuilt, so those parcels are left off this page. They are on the biggest increases page.
A gap does not mean the assessment is wrong. A finished renovation, an addition, new construction, or a correction to a low assessment can each make one parcel rise faster than the rest of its street. This page uses only the published rolls, so it cannot see what is on the lot. If one of those happened at your house, that probably explains the gap.
If none of them did, ask the assessor what changed. Grievance season in Westchester lists the deadlines. If you miss one, you wait a year. Dale Ledger cannot file a grievance for you. Start with the Village of Tarrytown.

FAQ
How do I know if I am over-assessed in Tarrytown?
Compare how much your assessment changed with the median change on your own street. If yours rose much more and you have not renovated, built, or subdivided, ask the assessor about the gap.
Does a large gap mean my assessment is wrong?
No. A gap alone does not show an error. Renovations, additions, new construction, and corrections to a low assessment can all make a parcel rise faster than its street.
Can Dale Ledger file a grievance for me?
No. Dale Ledger is an unofficial site. It does not give tax advice or represent anyone. Only you or someone you authorize can file a grievance, and only the assessor and the Board of Assessment Review can change an assessment.
Unofficial. Confirm figures on the Village of Tarrytown and the Town of Greenburgh assessor before you act on them. Tarrytown does not assess its own property, so the Town of Greenburgh publishes the roll.
