# Apawamis Club

Apawamis Avenue takes its name from the club founded in 1890. Houses on this street sit against one of Rye's oldest country clubs. The course is still there; the lots are the leftover edge.

Rye's club belt — Apawamis, Manursing, and later the Westchester Biltmore beach club — occupied the better shore and inland turf that did not go into house lots in the first suburban wave.
